Dear Friends :
We are working with a horse rescue organization, filled with
very caring people, and an emergency
situation has blessed us with two mares and their foals - approximately one to
two weeks old - and a gelding and stud at present..
We are in need of donations of any kind - monetary, horse
supplies and any volunteer help would be deeply appreciated.
Here is a link to an interview that took place on Channel 5 News on
March 2nd
Also, I have placed a link to a website with
pictures and explanations of the initial mare and foal that we rescued on
February 26th.

I, as well as our organization and the rescue horses involved
(most importantly) would appreciate any help that you or your family and
friends can provide. Together we can make this a powerful endeavor!
To all who interested:
Sugar and baby are at
the barn settling in. Sugar has had some of her overgrown foot taken off
but will not properly be trimmed or examined until she can be tranquilized and
laid down by a vet as she is in too much pain to stand on one foot long enough
for the farrier to trim. It has been determined by a vet that her baby,
aka Da Brat, is not getting enough food from his mom to do much more than
survive. After much struggle and determination on the part of me, Shawn
and with Brenda's magic touch, we've managed to get him to start eating oatmeal
consistency foal-lac pellets. He wanted nothing to do with a bottle but
seems to like gumming the mash pretty well. Once he figured out it was
food (and that kicking the bucket holder was part of the fun) he began to eat
in earnest. His mother is moving around slightly more than yesterday but
we will not know the extent of her foot damage until a thorough ! trim and exam
is done, most likely Fri. She has been very sweet and tolerant of us so
far, especially considering she's been locked in a stall for a year with nearly
no human interaction. There is most likely no hope for her hair and the
mats will most likely have to shed out. It is hard to determine the
condition of the skin underneath, she is defiantly very tender in some areas.
Thanks to all who have donated time, money, and supplies.
